I believe that therapy at its best helps people to look closely at the stories they carry so that they can lighten their load.
I am a relational therapist, and I strive to help my clients move towards greater well-being in a calm, safe and empathic space. I am especially interested in helping people to recover from trauma, to heal from anxiety, depression, and grief, and to navigate challenges and transitions at all stages of life.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I practiced as a family law attorney, working with those struggling with family dissolution, domestic violence, and emotional strain. I have also worked in the theater as an actor and director, as a journalist for ABC News, and in education, most recently founding, and running admissions for, a school in Hanoi, Vietnam. I am also the mother of four young adult children. I see each of these professional and personal paths as having intertwined throughout my life, ultimately enabling me to become the therapist I am today.
I obtained my BA with high honors from Harvard University and a JD with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. I am currently pursuing my Master’s at NYU in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling. I have additional training in EMDR Therapy for trauma and in mindfulness meditation for the treatment of anxiety and depression.
When providing therapy, I draw on various treatment modalities depending on the needs of the client, including psychodynamic counseling, motivational interviewing, EMDR, CBT and mindfulness.
Best,
