My goal is to create a safe, warm, attuned, and supportive collaboration with you. This type of human-to-human exchange allows for a rich exploration of your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and how your past and present operate in the here-and-now. I believe that within the safety of an honest therapeutic relationship you can discover how to access more creative and expansive living, whatever that may mean to you. I am here with you and for you.
Social justice and inclusion are at the core of my work. I think these values are heavily influenced by my experience as a middle eastern immigrant who has had to navigate issues of identity and belonging. I spent the last ten years working with the United Nations Development Programme's health team and with non-profits serving individuals seeking refuge in a new home and those recovering from serious mental illness. These experiences help me look at the world through a multicultural lens and celebrate working with individuals who hold diverse identities.
I am currently completing my master's in mental health counseling at Hunter College. I hold a bachelor's in psychology and a master's in international development.
In addition to English, I speak Arabic, French, and elementary Spanish.
