My main objective in counseling is to bring interconnectivity and calmness to my clients and help them achieve their fullest potential. I will listen to each piece of information you provide me with patience and respect, as we need to establish trust and work collaboratively. My approach to therapy is psychodynamic, person-centered, and existential within the frame of the biopsychosocial model. As an international therapist, I understand how culture plays a vital role in one’s life. By using the multicultural lens in the therapeutic approach, I can better grasp the context of clients’ lives and tailor interventions that align with their cultural contexts. I am also a Mandarin speaker and can provide psychotherapy in Mandarin and English. I hope I am not only a professional counselor but also a messenger and accompanying person with you during hard times.
I received my Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music Writing & Production at Berklee College of Music and my Master of Music Therapy from Temple University. I also achieved the Neurological Music Therapy Fellowship at University of Toronto’s International Neurologic Music Therapy Training Institute. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at Columbia University. Gaining 6+ years of experience working in music therapy with autistic children, high school dropouts, adults with depression & anxiety, and elderly with Alzheimer’s, I am ready to step into counseling by combining these cross-category experiences and finally help my clients achieve the “rubato” part of their life (every music piece has its default tempo, only the rubato part allows the player to adjust tempo and volume to express the most abundant emotional color).
