CONFIDENTIAL AND AFFORDABLE… CALL US FOR AN APPOINTMENT. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU

Jay Clayton

I believe that introspection and careful self-examination are the key tools we as humans use to evolve to our better selves. The more we question ourselves and our motivations, the more we discover about ourselves and the reasons why we do the things we do. This is a rigorous and daunting task for most people, and thus most people tend not to do it. It is my belief that once we work through the fear and discomfort of looking at the aspects of ourselves that make us uncomfortable that we can overcome many of the obstacles and challenges life throws our way.

It is my goal to guide you on this process through self-realization. I utilize a combination of gestalt and psychodynamic therapy to walk with you through the murky waters of the here and now. Once we are cognizant of our presence in the current moment, we will then be more equipped to uncover what aspects of your history have impacted the way you currently relate to other people and obstacles in your life. My goal as your therapist will be to stand by your side as you traverse these waters and motivate you when you hit an inner wall that would otherwise prevent you from moving forward.

Relationships and sexuality are my biggest passions, and my specialization is in couple's therapy. Understanding the recurring patterns and underlying mechanisms of adult attachment while discovering and working with the nuances of my clients' relationships is vital to me. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Lehman College and am currently working on acquiring my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College.
